ROASTED GARLIC
Golden brown, sweet roasted garlic kicks it up a notch.
Spread on crusty bread, chop and add to a sauce, puree for the perfect compliment to meat, mix with sour cream and fresh herbs for a robust dip.
Easy to have around all the time. So versatile.
Already using the oven? Slice off the tip of a garlic bulb or two, sprinkle on a little olive oil and sea salt, place in the oven at 350 for 15-20 minutes…until golden brown. Peel away the paper thin skin, ready to eat. Stores well in refrigerator.

Acid Jazz with Gilles Peterson. feat. Brand New Heavies - Mark “Snowboy” Cotgrove - Steve Williamson and Bukky Leo at Dingwalls.

A must share from a Facebook post. This doc, Acid Jazz with Gilles Peterson, is about 30 minutes long and a gem of a music time capsule from over 20 years ago.

Pure music history for an often overlooked but fantastic genre and time. London was swinging in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Sundays at Digwalls was a cauldron of music magic, a simply awesome moment in music history.

The Acid Jazz music scene was an undefinable hybrid with more heads than an Hydra - Jazz, Rare Groove, House, Latin, Rap, Standards, DJs and Dance. Throwing a DJ in the mix was ground-breaking and only heightened the pulse and intensity of the room.

Take the time to watch this. Legendary!

Buceo95

201 West 95th St NYC 10025

Buceo95 is an Upper Westside Wine and Tapas Bar with a relaxed and sexy, downtown feel. Former New Yorkers visiting town and gathering the old gang often leads to unexpected food finds in NYC. Buceo95 is cozy, candle lit, outdoor seating on a lively street, and an expertly designed interior for comfort and efficiency. Even the bathrooms have quaint charm.

A tattooed, camera ready for the Food Network, chef and a line cook, in a small open kitchen, cranked out a wide variety of the savory small plates on Misha Ryklin’s Buceo95 tapas menu. The meat is locally raised, organic and free range, fitting the upscale crowd and rustic yet contemporary atmosphere.

Spanish wines abound at Buceo95. The wine list is extensive, varied and well priced. The Sommelier, John A. Davidson, tosses in a few surprises with wines from Euskadi (Basque country), Germany, and Austria.

Favorite dish was Calamares - grilled calamari, roasted red pepper almond sauce, squid ink drizzle. Almonds and nuts punctuate and stud several selections on the menu. James, the former New Yorker visiting, is a vegetarian; so, we steered clear of meat. But, the lamb sliders and golf ball sized spicy meatballs coming out of the kitchen could stir any red meat lovers cravings.

For a Brooklynite, the food adventure in the city to Buceo95 was well worth the trip uptown to be turned on to Randi’s favorite place in her neighborhood. So many choices, one trip to Buceo95 is not enough.
